COVID-19 update
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact that this situation has on the service we provide to the residents of Cheshire East.
However, we have had to make some changes to the way we normally operate. The offices at both Crewe and Macclesfield continue to be closed to all visitors but we are actively working on a plan to reopen them safely. The crematorium buildings are now open to all visitors but with extra safeguards in place. Please take note of the information displayed in these areas and make use of the hand sanitisers provided.
Current guidance on attending a funeral states that you should not attend if you have tested positive for Covid-19 or have been instructed to self-isolate. Attendance should be limited to a maximum of 30 mourners.
From Saturday 8 August it will be mandatory to wear a face covering when attending a funeral, guidance on face coverings. We strongly encourage all mourners to comply with this legislation to protect themselves and all others involved in the ceremony.
Seating in our crematorium chapels complies with social distancing rules and is arranged in small groups. Only members of the same household or bubble should sit on a single group of chairs. The exact number and configuration of chairs at each location can be obtained from your chosen Funeral Director or by contacting the relevant office. A small number of mourners will be able to listen to the service outside the chapel if necessary. However, they should be no more than six in number and must observe social distancing rules at all times.
We remain in regular dialogue with all Funeral Directors so they should be able to help with any specific questions with regards to funerals.
However please feel free to contact the offices at Crewe and Macclesfield if you would like clarification of the above or have any other query.
