COVID-19 update
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact that this situation has on the service we provide to the residents of Cheshire East.
However, we have had to make some changes to the way we normally operate. The crematorium buildings are now open to all visitors but with extra safeguards in place. Please take note of the information displayed in these areas and make use of the hand sanitisers provided. From Monday 12 April 2021 the offices at both Crewe and Macclesfield have re-opened on an appointment only basis. If you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss your needs in person please contact the relevant office.
Current guidance on attending a funeral states that, although there are now no restrictions on who can attend a funeral, numbers should be kept as low as possible and at a maximum of 30 people.
Seating in our crematorium chapels complies with social distancing rules and is arranged in small groups. Only members of the same household should sit on a single group of chairs. The exact number and configuration of chairs at each location can be obtained from your chosen Funeral Director or by contacting the relevant office. Any mourners who cannot be accommodated in the chapel will be able to stand outside and listen to the service whilst observing social distancing at all times.
It is mandatory to wear a face covering when attending a funeral. See guidance on face coverings. We strongly encourage all mourners to comply with this legislation to protect themselves and all others involved in the ceremony.
We remain in regular dialogue with all Funeral Directors so they should be able to help with any specific questions with regards to funerals.
However please feel free to contact the offices at Crewe and Macclesfield if you would like clarification of the above or have any other query.
