Orbitas Handy Person Service is a company wholly owned by Cheshire East Council and has a contract to provide Minor Adaptations to residents’ homes, allowing them to continue living independently and to facilitate safe hospital discharge. It also offers a chargeable service to all residents of Cheshire East and surrounding areas.
The main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Providing a professional and responsive service for day to day works, dealing with small general items of interior and exterior maintenance and repair e.g. installing grab rails, constructing steps, installing stair rails, putting up shelves, moving furniture, decorating, gardening and other tasks in line with the diverse needs and requests of customers
- Undertaking detailed assessments of the customers’ requirements, producing comprehensive plans outlining the exact work and materials required to complete each job
- Discuss and agree appropriate work to be undertaken with the customer
- Liaising with Occupational Therapists regarding work requests
- Completing and updating electronic records for all work using the Eworks job management software
- Predominantly working alone and use of a Company vehicle
The successful candidate will have a “can do” attitude and have the ability to:
- Communicate effectively with a high level of interpersonal skills, in order to portray a professional image at all times and provide excellent customer service
- Work using their own initiative
- Apply attention to detail ensuring accuracy of information at all times
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel
Plumbing, joinery, tiling, plastering experience or PAT testing qualification is desirable.
